<베서니>는 2015 <쉬또젤라찌>, 2015 <게공선>에 이은 극단동의 ‘자본주의 맨낯 시리즈’ 세 번째 작품이다. 이 작품은 서브프라임 모기지론 사태로 집을 잃고 딸의 양육권까지 빼앗긴 싱글맘, 크리스탈의 세상과의 사투를 다루고 있다. 가장 기본적인 권리를 지키기 위해 그녀가 할 수 있는 일은 무엇인가. 할 수밖에 없는 일은 무엇인가. 세상 밖으로 나간 그녀는 자신이 딸을 양육할 수 있다는 것을 증명해내기 위해 무엇을 해야만 하는지 깨닫는다. 그녀는 총을 장전하고 전쟁에 나가는 심정으로 맞서는 모든 것들과 싸운다. 그녀가 진짜 싸워야 할 적은 인류가 만들어낸 ‘자본주의’라는 새로운 재앙이다. 그리고 그 재앙은 지금 우리 앞에도 놓여 있다. 왜 이런 재앙이 왔는가. 이 재앙을 우리는 어떻게 극복해야 하는가.

This performance is about the desperate fight to survive of single mom Christal, who has lost her house and the custody at the time of the subprime mortgage crisis. What are those she can do and also has to do to protect her fundamental rights? She realizes what to do in society to prove her ability how well she raises her daughter. She fights everything she confronts with as like she loads a gun to enter a war. What she really has to fight is the capitalism, which is a new disaster invented by human beings. We face the disaster all the time. why does this happen? how could we overcome this situation?
