작품설명

Peter Stone의 대본과 컨셉트를 기본으로 이 뮤지컬은 미스터리 살인 사건을 기본 플롯으로 만들어 졌다. 배경은 1959년 보스톤, 의 공연의 오프닝 날 커튼콜에서 재능이 너무 나도 없는 스타가 살해되는 사건이 발생한다. 경찰들이 극장의 공연을 구하고, 이 사건을 풀 수 있을까? 다시 공연되기 전에 누군가가 살인되지 않고, 범인을 찾을 수 있을까?

2003년 4월 Peter Stone은 대본을 마저 끝내지 못하고 사망하여 Holmes가 이어서 마무리를 했다. 작사가인 프레드 엡도 뮤지컬을 완성하지 못한 채 사망했다.

은 2006년 7월 25일 LA의 Ahmanson Theater에서 공연을 시작하게 되었다. 지역 기사들은 다양하였지만 실망스럽지는 않았고, 프로듀서들은 뉴욕에서 공연을 하기로 결정했다. Scott Ellis 의 연출, Rob Ashford의 안무로 2007년 3월 22일 Al Hisrschfeld Thetre에서 오픈된 브로드웨이 공연은 23회의 프리뷰 공연을 끝낸 뒤 다양한 리뷰가 나왔다. 이 뮤지컬은 Tony상 8개 부문에 노미네이트 되었으며, Hyde Pierce가 주연 배우상을 받았다.
