작품설명

마이클 프라이언(Michael Frayn)의 대표적인 소극 는 전 세계 38개국에서 대성공을 이룬 영국의 farce로 작품집필에만 10년이 걸린 만큼, 작가는 심혈을 기울였다고 한다. 그 결과 1982년 런던에서 처음 공연한 이래 5년 동안 장기연속공연을 성공적으로 이루어 냈고, 현재까지도 브로드웨이를 비롯해서 전 세계 관객들이 열광하고 있는 고급 코미디 작품이다.

1982년 이후 영국과 브로드웨이를 비롯 전 세계 극장에서 상영되고 있으며, 2000년 이후부터 영국의 대표적인 공연장인 Lyttelton Theatre, Piccadilly Theatre, Comedy Theatre, Piccadilly Theatre에서 막을 올렸다.

그 외에 영화와 책으로도 여러 번 제작되었는데 슈퍼맨의 영웅 ‘크리스토퍼 리브’가 극 중 ‘필립’ 역으로 출연한 영화로 더욱 유명하다. 그리고 책으로는 여러 차례 소개되었다. 최근에 아시아에서 최초로 일본 도쿄 신국립극장［New National Theatre］에 소개된 바 있으며 한국에서도 소개 되었다.
